A little while ago, I wrote up a post all about how to organise a photoshoot whilst travelling (link here) and thought it would be fun to share just what such collaborations can create. When I knew I was going to be travelling to Poland last year, I really wanted to grab the opportunity to create something different and fun. I started scrolling through Instagram and I came across the ridiculously talented and beautiful person that is Paulina from @pauliinasiwiecfotografia. I knew that it was worth at least sending a message to see if she wanted to collaborate. I was so happy to find out that she was happy to work together so we did! Twice!

Today I wanted to reflect a little on the second shoot we did because to date, it’s one of my favourite photoshoots I’ve ever done and the photos resulting are simply stunning (if I may say so myself). On a bit of a gloomy day, Paulina and I took the bus to Krakow and met up with a dear friend and gorgeous Polish pinup, Rockagirl. Rockagirl was such a darling and so skilled in the ways of vintage hair and makeup. As the weather was very stormy and wet, she was kind enough to give me a hair cut as we killed some time. It was probably the best hair cut I had ever had and my vintage styles from then on were so wonderful to style; it was very sad to grow it out. For this shoot, we were going for a more 1940’s look so my hair was curled in a loose poodle style at the front with soft waves at the back. For styling I wore the Lana dress from Vivien of Holloway, my big straw hat and some ballet flats. Then it was all a waiting game; will the weather hold out.

We wanted to reach our destination around sunset to bring out the gold tones of the wheat field. For those wondering, the wheat field was owned by a friend of Paulina’s so we had full permission to shoot in it; we also made sure to be respectful and not leave any rubbish or damage the crop. The rain stopped, for only about 20 minutes but that’s all we needed. The shoot was over in about 10 minutes and before we knew it, the sun was almost gone. It was a whirlwind but the photos were an absolute dream. The gold tones from the sunset, reflecting off the golden wheat and with such simple styling really come together in the photos. The shoot was a dream, plain and simple. After the last shot was taken, it was a race to catch the final bus to Katowice.

Doing this photoshoot was a beautiful experience; getting to connect with creatives and producing a unique collaboration is exactly why I love this community. I felt so comfortable the whole time and will forever cherish the images we created. I can’t wait to go back and do it all again.

It’s been a hot minute since I wrote up a blog post about a photoshoot; although I don’t give any tips or advice about shooting in this particular post, I really just wanted to share a wonderful experience of mine. Especially in such a crazy time, it’s lovely to look back and be grateful for our experiences and look forward to new ones once the world gets back to normal. I hope these photos bring you a little bit of joy and colour into your day as I know they cheer me up whenever I look at them. I’ll see you all in the next post!
