My Top KBeauty Sunscreens

I’d like to think that most of us have some kind of sunscreen in our daily skincare routine as protecting our skin from the sun is such a vital thing to do. The sun can speed up the appearance of aging, darken our skin and even come up with cancer years down the track. As someone with acne prone skin, I’m always a bit hesitant with certain sunscreens as I want my skin to breathe and hopefully, not break out. I’ve always found that KBeauty has immensely helped my skin so today I thought I’d share with you some of the best kbeauty sunscreens you can find. All sunscreens recommended can be purchased from YesStyle (use code MONMON8 for discount at checkout).

Before we begin, I must first point out the differences between Korean sunscreen and Western sunscreen. The biggest difference is the rating system when it comes to levels of protection. In the US and Australia for example SPF is used to measure protection which measures how well a formula protects against UVB rays. Korean formulas use a system known as the Persistent Pigmentation Darkening Test. This measures how much UVA radiation someone can be exposed to without the skin tanning or darkening. This is indicated by ‘PA+’; more plus signs you see in front of that PA, the higher the protection level. The next big difference between Korean and Western sunscreens is the differences in formulas. Korean companies have access to many different types of sunscreen ingredients, they credit different rules and regulations that make the approval process much easier and ultimately, that translates to much more cosmetically elegant products. They’re effective, they feel good going on and can be really budget friendly.

MISSHA – All-Around Safe Block Soft Finish Sun Milk
SPF50+ PA+++ 70ml

This has been my go-to sunscreen since 2018 and I still absolutely love it. The formula is lightweight, non-sticky or tacky and it feels really velvety and refreshing on the skin. The formula is both water and sweat proof and delivers hydration to the skin. It can leave a soft white cast on the skin but it vanishes after about 15 minutes.

Etude House – Sunprise Mild Watery Light
SPF50+ PA+++ 50g

This was the first kbeauty sunscreen I tried and its certainly still a favourite. I personally am not a fan of the mint scent but find the formula to sink easily into the skin and it doesn’t leave a white cast or leave my skin looking super shiny. This sunscreen comes in a UV gel formula which applies smoothly, and is comfortable to wear.

COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream
SPF50 PA+++

COSRX always comes up with great products especially for those plagued with acne. This sun cream is no different; it’s light formula doesn’t clog the pores and with loads of Aloe in the formula, it hydrates, calms and soothe the skin. I find this sun cream is great for all over body use and I often bring it down to my neck, chest and arms.

Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar
SPF50+ PA++++

This is my latest sunscreen discovery and I am obsessed! This sunscreen comes in a bar (a bit like a deodorant stick) and you swipe it over your face to apply. There is no white cast upon application and you can swipe it over your makeup without smudging anything! I know, mind blown!

VILLAGE 11 FACTORY – Pink Calming Sunblock
SPF50+ PA+++ 50ml

I’d definitely recommend this sun cream for anyone with sensitive skin. With great sun protection, this cream is formulated with pink calamine powder which soothes, calms and prevents the skin becoming irritated. The only downside is that it can leave a bit of a pink tone behind on the skin which may not be ideal for all skin shades.
This sunblock also comes in a hydration formula which is Devine for sensitive skin that’s more on the dry side.

NEOGEN Dermalogy Day-Light Protection Sun Screen
SPF50 PA+++

This sun screen is a bit more on the pricier side of the scale but it definitely deserves a mention. The formula itself is so delightful to wear and it’s also silicone-free and very lightweight. It prides itself on being a great combination of skin care and sun protection which layers well with your normal moisturiser and skin care routine. There is no white cast left behind despite it containing zinc oxide; it really blends seamlessly into all skin tones.

THE PLANT BASE – Dailiben Innocent Sun Cream
SPF50+ PA+++

This is a multi-functioning product with great sun protection but it also has ingredients that brighten the kin, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps your skin feel moisturised and look radiant.

Korean skincare and sun protection is far beyond the technology of Western products. With new and innovative formulas, ingredients and goals, Korean sun protection will really be an asset to your skin and not only help you with protection; but it will also nourish and aid your skin as well. I don’t see myself returning to Western sunscreens anytime soon and always stock up on Korean sunscreen right before summer. I tend to keep them in my carry bag as reapplying is so easy to do when I’m on the go.
I hope this list helps you find a product that you love but I do recommend looking into Korean sunscreens on your own. A lot of this list is products I have found worked great for my skin (acne prone and dry) but I’m sure you can find heaps of Korean sun protection products for oily skin, anti-aging and to help with pigmentation if they are some of your personal concerns.
