Growing up in a house which was very strict about food waste, using up Halloween trick-or-treat candy was a fine art my mother perfected. Trick or treat candy wasn’t something I really cared about as a kid (just not really a lolly or candy kinda gal) I always gave mine to my mum after picking out the few pieces I actually enjoyed. It is from years of living as a non-candy-eater that this list has sprung forward and hopefully given you a way to redistribute and use up your leftover Halloween candy. Here are 10 ways to use up your left over Halloween trick-or-treat lollies.

Melt down the chocolate for various toppings
If you’re left with a lot of chocolate, a great way to use it is to melt it down and use it as icing for a cake or biscuits. It can also be used in various desserts or topping for yoghurt and ice cream. I’d also recommend just simply dipping strawberries into your melted chocolate!
Decorate your Gingerbread house/people
If you really don’t want to eat your Halloween candy, try using it as seasonal decor on your gingerbread baking. All sorts of lollies can decorate a gingerbread house as well as be fun to use to dress up gingerbread people.
If you’re not pro-gingerbread, most lollies and sweets look great as normal decorations for cakes, cup cakes and other sweet desserts.
Use it to fill home-made Christmas Crackers
One way to get rid of trick or treat lollies is to use them to fill up home made Christmas crackers! This makes the experience more fun, personable and you’re not left with a minature screwdriver set for the 3rd year in a row.
Stocking Stuffers
Creating small bundles of lollies and sweets can make cute little stocking stuffers extras
Add them to your Advent Calendars
This is a great way to fill up an advent calendar and a way to spread out treats for the holiday season.
Communal treats bowl at work
If you really don’t want to eat your candy, one way to get rid of it is by creating a communal snack bowl in the lunch/break room at work. Pretty soon the sweet tooths of the workplace will munch their way through it.
Paint with Skittles
Yeah, apparently that’s a thing and with all these new skittles colours, image the Bob Ross you could paint! Check out this blog for more info!
Try a Candy Milkshake
Although I’ve never personally tried it, some chocolate bars and various sweets can be blitzed up with milk and ice cream to create a wicked milkshake! Honestly, I might just be thinking about pulling out the blender now.
Prize Stash
Grab a large jar and fill it with your trick or treat goodies, then over the next few weeks, use that candy as a rewards program for the kids to encourage more chores and better behaviour. This jar can also be used as a prize stash for games night which makes it extra fun too.
