Sewing Pattern Review: Butterick 6556/Simplicity 9294 by Gertie

Do you have a certain souvenir you collect on your travels? I have friends who collect keychains, flags, shot glasses and spoons but me being the odd one out, I collect fabric. Yes, whenever I travel, I try to find a fabric store to pick up some beautiful fabric to bring home (sit in my … Continue reading Sewing Pattern Review: Butterick 6556/Simplicity 9294 by Gertie

Baking 2022’s Vintage Easter Lamb Cake

April 18, 2022May 2, 2022Leave a comment

This is becoming a yearly tradition here on my blog and Instagram but it's time to share this year's Vintage Easter Lamb Cake baking adventure. This is the third year we've given this cake a go and after last year's absolute catastrophe, this year can only be an improvement. This year I was inspired by … Continue reading Baking 2022’s Vintage Easter Lamb Cake

Baking a Vintage Easter Lamb Cake that went Horribly Wrong

April 30, 2021March 21, 20223 Comments

Last year I made a vintage lamb cake for Easter and I was so proud of how it turned out. This year, I was even more excited to make another one and after reading one of my favourite children's book to my niece and nephew, 'Where is the Green Sheep?', I thought I'd make a … Continue reading Baking a Vintage Easter Lamb Cake that went Horribly Wrong

That’s a Wrap – Fields of Gold

April 25, 2020April 25, 20203 Comments

A little while ago, I wrote up a post all about how to organise a photoshoot whilst travelling (link here) and thought it would be fun to share just what such collaborations can create. When I knew I was going to be travelling to Poland last year, I really wanted to grab the opportunity to … Continue reading That’s a Wrap – Fields of Gold

Baking a Vintage Easter Lamb Cake

April 13, 2020March 21, 20228 Comments

We are all adjusting to a different type of Easter long weekend this year so it's totally okay to try new things or just do very little. To try and boost myself and my mood I thought, let's do some vintage baking. We've done a few vintage recipes already (for Halloween and Valentines Day) and … Continue reading Baking a Vintage Easter Lamb Cake

I have an irrational fear of plugging in a vintage electronic and zapping myself across the room. It's never happened but one day ...
The Betty Draper dress is an iconic vintage dress with quite a following. I've wanted to sew my own for over 6 years and finally made decent version. It's not perfect and I'm keen for another go at it soon.
When your sewing hobby starts becoming a problem...
All my needle felting friends will appreciate this one 🤣 I really wanted to be good at needle felting but it's just not a skill I possess. What's a skill you wish you were good at?
Haters will say this is a filter but you clearly cant handle natural beauty. 🤣 All jokes aside, if filters make you feel better about yourself then use them. I sometimes use them to hide blemishes when my cystic acne flares up not gonna lie. Most of the time i dont bother because im learning to get comfortable sharing my skin as it is. Is it clear? Nope. Does it bother me? Yep. But does it matter at the end of the day what people say about my spots? NOPE! You do you boo!
I've already shared this outfit on my blog but I'm still in absolute love with it! This custom made top and shorts is from @turningheadsbycarolina who are an incredible woman-run small business specialising in tropic vintage outfits 💚 Everything is made by hand custom to you and is fantastic quality. This outfit has my heart 💚 Go check out her things and show her some love ❤️ Full review on this set in my bio link.
Just incase you needed to hear this message 💛
Day dreaming of fields of gold 💛 can't wait to come back here, hopefully sometime this year but who knows!
I can find true vintage sewing patterns a bit of a challenge but McCalls 5142 was a dream to sew. I got this pattern from @thevintagepatternshop and used fabric from @minervadotcom which I've had in my stash for a few years.
Probably my favourite dress that I've made this year. I'm still obsessed with this cute retro floral fabric from @spotlightstores and now I need more dresses with collars and sleeves.
