Making ANZAC biscuits from 1914

April 22, 2022May 1, 2022Leave a comment

Anzac Day is an important day for anyone in Australia and New Zealand; it is a national day of remembrance that commemorates all those "who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served". Held on the 25th of April each year, Anzac … Continue reading Making ANZAC biscuits from 1914

Making Snow Eggs from 1958 – Vintage Cooking Adventure

April 15, 2022May 2, 2022Leave a comment

I have a weird love for vintage magazines and I really enjoy reading the ones I own and will most likely pick up a few more as time rolls on. Last year, I found the April edition of New Idea from 1958 which was an Easter special edition claiming to have some amazing Easter recipes. … Continue reading Making Snow Eggs from 1958 – Vintage Cooking Adventure

Making Potato and Leek Soup from 1958

March 18, 2022March 17, 20221 Comment

I have a soft spot for a good soup; growing up, every day my mother had a fresh type of soup ready when we got home from school and even though I can never make my own taste as good as hers, I love making soup. Soup is comforting and perfect for a cosy meal; … Continue reading Making Potato and Leek Soup from 1958

Making the Official Mrs Maisel Latkes

February 25, 2022February 25, 2022Leave a comment

A brand new season of The Marvellous Mrs Maisel is upon us so to celebrate, I thought we'd head back into the kitchen and whip up some of Midge's famous Latkes. We all know that Midge's brisket, which we've already made and tried, is somewhat of it's own character but Midge does state that she … Continue reading Making the Official Mrs Maisel Latkes

Making Vintage Valentine’s Tea from 1947

February 4, 2022Leave a comment

https://youtu.be/0GLWaDAx8V4 When we strap on our aprons and head out on a vintage cooking adventure, we often make some sort of delicious baked good; this year for Valentine's I thought I'd try something a little bit different. As I was going for a bit of a surf on the web (do people still say that … Continue reading Making Vintage Valentine’s Tea from 1947

It's been raining a lot over here and I have to admit I adore this weather. I love watching the rain and I find it ever so calming; no matter show stressed I am, the rain allows me to take a deep breath and destress.
I really miss sewing so I thought I'd share a dress I made back in May which was #butterick6318 using a gorgeous vintage print cotton from @fabricdotcom
I'm still struggling health wise and I think this is my 5th or 6th week on bed rest. I'm exhausted all the time, pretty lonely and feeling flat but I'm starting to plan projects and ideas for the future.
Today was a good day; I felt well enough to do a little sewing and although I didn't quite get around to tidying uo, I certainly got my appetite back! It's the little wins right? What was one of your little wins for the week?
For all the socially anxious out there, I hope you all relate 🤣🤣
It's been a slow week, I need to remember to take it easy but I'm starting to feel more active and slowly become more social. Im starting to feel better but i definitely get tired easily and need to rest more. But today I thought about sewing again and started planning a few projects.
I think I've been asleep for an entire week but I'm sure next week I will be able to function a little more. I have so much work to catch up on and sewing to do! So many unfinished projects just waiting for me.
I've been told to rest up for another month and it's slowly driving me mad that I can't sew or work. It's getting to the point where I'm just oversharing as soon as a friend calls.
The past two weeks have been a big challenge for me, my body threw a tantrum and tried to give up on me and I've been recovering ever since. I cannot walk through my house without being out if breath, the migraines and pain are constant and to say I'm exhausted would be an understatement. I haven't had the strength to be online or to create content. I can't work or even sew, instead I've been reading. It's a calming escape to hide behind the characters of a book and go on huge adventures, it's almost like an addiction the want to escape. I'm hoping that next week I'll be a bit more active. Thank you for all the messages of love and support, I'm overwhelmed by all the love and as soon as I can look at a screen, I'll respond to as many as I can. Just know I miss you all 💙💙
I have an irrational fear of plugging in a vintage electronic and zapping myself across the room. It's never happened but one day ...
