Being an avid online shopper for some time, I had seen adverts for Dresslily pop up a few times alerting me to some pretty trendy items available with a budget. I had perused their website a few times but had never actually gone through with a purchase. A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Dresslily and was asked if I’d be interested in receiving some dresses to see what I think so I agreed and oh boy am I glad I did.
Dresslily is a leading international online fashion clothing and accessory store. Focusing on the very latest in affordable fashion styles, both attire and stunning accessories, they feature thousands of the latest products, provide maximum choice and convenience to their clientele. They also aim to provide an extensive range of high quality, trendy fashion clothing together with a professional dedicated service to their customers from all over the world. Upon going to their website, it’s easy to be lost for hours looking at fabulous fashions and accessories. As a pinup girl, I was curious to see if I could find anything that suited my style and was pleasantly surprised that there were so many vintage inspired and retro options that could suit a wide range of tastes and personal styles.
I chose four dresses and received the first three (as they were waiting on a size restock) and I was really impressed. Each dress individually packaged, and there was no chemical smell. The dresses were made out of a high-quality stretchy material so they had a little stretch, they weren’t lined but they didn’t look sheer once worn. I chose the dresses to be really summery, cute and flirty. All the dresses needed a good steam to get the wrinkles out but that wasn’t a big deal. Here’s what I thought and don’t forget to look out for the coupon code at the bottom of this blog!
The Vintage Polka Dot Pin Up Dress

The Vintage Polka Dot Pin Up Dress caught my eye because of its beautiful blue colour, the polka dots which are always sweet for summer time and the cute triple straps. The dress had a cute bow tie up on the bust line and the skirt finished just above the knee. Although I normally prefer my dresses to reach my knees, for summer this length is really flirty and a bit more casual.
I really loved the straps when I ordered the dress but found that the outer strap would constantly fall down. This didn’t bother me as much as I thought it might but I do wish all the straps were sewn on so the polka dots were visible. The dress was made out of a Spandex Polyester blend and had the perfect amount of stretch in it. The A-line skirt was really flattering but had no pockets.

Vintage Ruffled Fit and Flare Dress

I fell in love with the Vintage Ruffled Fit and Flare dress as soon as I saw the ruffle collar because it was absolutely adorable and of course, blue. The dress is made out of cotton spandex, isn’t lined but does not go sheer when worn. The skirt was knee length, gathered and had no pockets, unfortunately. I really liked the dark buttons down the center front of the bodice as they added a bit more cuteness. The dress was really fun and cute to wear and I can see myself reaching for it when going to a barbeque or a summer evening drive.
Out of all the dresses, I think this one is my favourite for summer. As much as I love my dresses reaching my knees, having this length was really fun for the day and I didn’t feel uncomfortable or overly exposed (you weirdly get used to coving your knees so when their exposed, you feel naked… oh pinup problems). With the skirt on this dress at a shorter length, it would be easy to put a full midi skirt over the top to make the bodice of the dress look like a top. I can’t wait to try this out!

Retro Gingham Bowknot Flare Dress

The Retro Gingham Bowknot Flare Dress caught my eye because it reminded me straight away of something Lucile Ball would wear in I Love Lucy if only it came in navy gingham! This dress was made out of cotton spandex and featured a contrasting white collared v-neck bodice, an A-line silhouette, knee-length skirt, and super cute stylized pockets. The dress had no lining but once again, the fabric was thick enough for it to not go sheer once worn but also be comfortable and light enough for the dress to be worn during summer.
I really liked the pockets being sewn onto the front of the skirt which also had a white ribbon to tie the tops up. I thought this was a really cute touch and gave the dress an added element of fun. I did have trouble trying to get the pocket bows to look even and not awkwardly gather the skirt but I think I got there in the end. I found the neckline to be really flattering and the white collar in contrast with the turquoise gingham to be really fun, summery and feminine. This dress can easily be dressed up to go to a lovely ladies lunch and also be paired with a cute cardigan once the weather cools. Now I can live out my Lucy fantasies! Pass the chocolate!

Final thoughts
The first three dresses I received from Dresslily blew away my expectations. I found all of the dresses to be made from high-quality materials, to be well made and constructed and to be stretchy and comfortable to wear. The dresses were all a tad shorter than what I’m normally used to but I found it a great length for the Australian summer. The customer service from Dresslily was absolutely wonderful, they were kind, patient and really in the know. I would like to thank them for their generosity.
It took about 3 weeks for the dresses to arrive on my doorstep which is a fair amount of time but if you don’t mind waiting I guess it’s fine. If you have been looking at getting some well-priced vintage-inspired dresses, Dresslily is your one-stop shop. There really are hundreds of items and lucky with their websites search system, you can look up ‘vintage’ dresses really easily. I am looking forward to seeing what new products they release soon and also trying out different products such as their jewelry, swimwear, and tops in the future.
