After finishing my WonderPore toner which I had used for several years, I finally realized it was time for me to find a different toner. The WonderPore started out amazing but over the years as my skin changed, became too strong for my skin and the alcohol content started to cause my skin to dry out. Whilst I had oilier skin it was amazing but coming back to Australia, it was time to move on. I was browsing Laneige one day and I came across the Fresh Calming Toner; I noticed it had Lychee extract and deep sea water which gave it a deliciously light fragrance but also promised to keep my skin hydrated, calm and smooth.
Ingredients
Water, Propanediol, Sea Water, Litchi Chinensis Pericarp Extract, Butylene Glycol, Ppg-13-decyltetradeceth-24, Disodium Edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.
Claims
According to the Laneige official website, this toner contains plant-derived rich extracts that instantly soothe skin and keep skin moisturized and healthy by strengthening the moisture barrier with deep seawater. It claims to have a gentle, oil-free texture which provides a refreshing feel with low-irritants (free from mineral oil, animal-driven material, synthetic colorant and sulphate).
How to Use
After you wash your face, soak a cotton pad with the toner and gently sweep it over your face. Pat your face gently to help absorption.
Price
At the moment, the toner is available on YesStyle for $49.42 for 250ml.
Thoughts
I’ve really enjoyed using this toner over the past 5 months; the smell is light and pleasant and disappears after a few minutes for those who don’t like fragrance on their face. Ingredients wise, the formula is very watery with a simple ingredients list. Most of the ingredients are very hydrating and the lychee peel extract will help add antioxidants into the skin. It was nice to see that there was no glycerin in the product which meant there was no tacky residue left on the skin. I personally find that my skin is very slow to absorb glycerine and I end up having a sticky/tacky feel on my skin until I rinse it off. The toner is glycerin free meaning that I can apply it a few times if I feel my skin really needs it without my skin feeling tacky afterward.
As it’s quite warm in Australia at the moment, it’s really nice to use morning and night and I feel my skin feels boosted and my makeup applies on nicely after I use it.
After further research, I found this product is targetted towards 20-25-year-old skin which is acne prone but not necessarily oily which makes it perfect for me. I didn’t see my pores shrink but I did notice that my skin started to smooth out a fair bit.
I really enjoy using this product and want to investigate Laneige’s calming line further and perhaps try their cleanser or essence but for now, I am finding that the toner works well.
