Instagram’s Monster; Part 2

July 17, 2020July 2, 2020Leave a comment

This post is a continuation of Instagram's Monster; Part 1. This mini-series explores our relationship between real life, our selves and social media. There is a heavy focus on selfies and Instagram. Although not pinup or vintage related, I wanted to use my academic skills to start a discussion about how we use social media … Continue reading Instagram’s Monster; Part 2

Instagram’s Monster; Part 1

July 10, 2020July 2, 2020Leave a comment

Online, the way one presents themselves and their identity is fluid which means that users of media, such as Instagram, can create and generate several different versions of themselves (Kendall 1998, Turkle 1999). Turkle described the computer as a means of creating a ‘second self’ (1984), Instagram can be seen as a popular way of … Continue reading Instagram’s Monster; Part 1

That’s a Wrap – Fields of Gold

April 25, 2020April 25, 20203 Comments

A little while ago, I wrote up a post all about how to organise a photoshoot whilst travelling (link here) and thought it would be fun to share just what such collaborations can create. When I knew I was going to be travelling to Poland last year, I really wanted to grab the opportunity to … Continue reading That’s a Wrap – Fields of Gold

Pinup with a Passport – Organising Photoshoots Whilst Travelling

August 12, 2019July 24, 20191 Comment

I always get told to 'pack light' whenever I'm getting ready for a trip overseas. It's not always easy to pack light especially with a pinup wardrobe if you like to go all out every day, it gets especially more difficult when you plan to do photoshoots on your travels. As an avid traveler, I've … Continue reading Pinup with a Passport – Organising Photoshoots Whilst Travelling

If you're interested in dressing vintage or pinup, you've probably heard of the resin jewelry brand, Erstwilder. Erstwilder is famous worldwide for its amazing bright resin jewelry including brooches, necklaces, and earrings. Originating from Melbourne in 2011, the company has continued to grow, expand and release some really beautiful and unique pieces. I remember my … Continue reading Erstwilder Art Deco Review

Do you enjoy winter holidays or summer holidays? I suppose summer is a bit easier but there's something delightfully cosy about winter adventures. What would be your ideal winter holiday?
Big boots bows make me happy. I'm trying really hard to get back to some sort of normal work routine but I've honestly been struggling. I'm not sure when I'll be well enough to film and edit and get back into the swing of things but I'm trying my best each day.
Sundays are an odd day, they have this laziness to them that's something to be savored but by the evening I'm stressed about the week to cone. Anyone else feel like this? I personally think we should add another day to the weekend so I can get all my housework done.
It's looking like a quiet weekend of recovery for me, what are your plans? What would be your perfect weekend?
Sad story about this dress: I made it using #butterick6284 during lockdown and absolutely loved it. After a few wears I took it to the laundry and somehow it fell behind the laundry basket where it wasn't visible. After a good while I found it but noticed it had some odd sun bleaching right on the front of the bodice. Now I wear it around the house but I'm tempted to remake it from the same fabric. Should I make another copy? Or should I just accept it as a house dress?
I'm in recovery mode and it's driving me crazy. I wanted to work today but just couldn't due to pain. I miss my normal routine, blogging and sewing. I don't think I'll be able to film this week but I'll try my best for a video next week.
I can't believe it's already wednesday! The week is just whizzing by and there's still so much to do. I'd much rather be lounging in pretty dresses. What would you rather be doing right now?
What are your weekend plans? I'm having an Endo flare up so if I manage to get up off the couch, that's me being productive. In spirit I'll be off adventuring ❤️
Is it weird to miss a certain fabric? I'm still obsessed with this yellow retro floral fabric from @pbsfabrics and I've already got it in green and soon to be pink. But, I want to make another dress out of the yellow. I know I'm on a fabric shopping ban but should I break it to get some more of this gorgeous yellow? It's just so pretty and I want it on a dress with sleeves! Thoughts?
Is everyone ready for Easter weekend? I'm not putting up my decorations this year due to renovations but I still have some Easter baking to do. Do you have an Easter tradition?
