After finishing my Laneige Fresh Calming cleanser a few weeks ago, I had my eye out for a new cleanser and suddenly I was craving a good quality foaming cleanser. Foaming cleansers are supposed to be very gentle on the skin as they don’t require as much scrubbing to get the product to foam. They are also supposed to deeply clean the pores as the foam can penetrate the pores. I’ve tried a few foam cleansers in my time but never a Kbeauty brand so here we are today about to review the Neogen Real Fresh Foam Blueberry Cleanser. This cleanser comes in a range of different “flavours” which are all designed to target different skin problems. I opted for the Blueberry as it’s aimed at moisturising the skin which is something I always struggle with due to my skin type. My skin is mainly dry with some oily patches on areas such as my nose. I also have cystic acne which can cause scarring and dark patches even after the cyst is long gone (oh yeah, super fun).

Thoughts
I was first drawn to this product by the packaging and it’s marketing concept. All advertising boasted that the product has 99 natural ingredients and the bottle houses actual fresh fruit. I didn’t quite realise how long such an ingredients would be but Holy guacamole Batman! That’s one hefty ingredients list! There’s a lot of stuff inside this little bottle which can be a bit overwhelming but don’t fear, the product is pretty simple when push comes to shove.
I was intrigued by the actual fresh fruit within the bottle and sure enough, my bottle has a whole bunch of little blueberries just chilling out within their own soapy liquid. I was worried that perhaps the fresh fruit would be a bit irritating as food really shouldn’t go on the skin, but I have found over my few months of use that the soap hasn’t turned colour, smell or anything negative reaction. Personally, I’m still a bit worried what’s going to happen once I reach the bottom chamber which houses the fruit as I don’t want them to spoil upon contact with air but we shall find out. Someone remind me to update once I reach the bottom of the bottle.
Now, as for the cleanser itself; it’s amazing! I find this cleanser super gentle and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and stripped of any moisture. The cleanser foams within the cap mechanism into a lovely lather that spreads easily over the face. The formula does a wonderful job removing dead skin, dirt and sebum from the skin and pores and I find that there is a very soft scent that isn’t overwhelming. I can’t quite place my finger on what the scent is but it doesn’t smell overly sweet or artificial. This cleanser removed most of my makeup when used on its own but I generally used it after I oil cleansed. If I had no makeup on that day, it worked without any problems.
Within this range, there are four variations. Blueberry, aimed at moisturising the skin. Cranberry, aimed at revitalising the skin. Cereal, aimed at brightening the skin and Green Tea, aimed at soothing the skin. I did toss up between the blueberry and the green tea as both suit my skin needs but I opted for the moisturising as my skin was really struggling with maintaining its moisture as of late.
The blueberry foam helped to remove some of my dead skin especially on my forehead which helped in making my skin look smooth and fresh. It helped sooth some redness on my cheeks as well as clearing some smaller breakouts. It didn’t help much with my cystic acne but that takes a small miracle. I didn’t notice much of a change with my sebaceous filaments especially on my nose area, but I saw a bigger difference on my cheeks.
As for moisturising my skin, I suppose there was a slight difference. Normally, after I cleanse my skin, I need to apply a moisturiser straight away or else my skin starts to hurt and can sting in the dry patches. This cleanser didn’t have that effect but I still added my normal skincare after using it.
I found I used this cleanser more in the evenings as it did a good job of removing all the junk my skin collected throughout the day.
The bottle, foaming mechanism and cap are all plastic but the bottle states that the packaging is recyclable. I’m not sure how that works with the bits of fruit still trapped inside though.
I would be keen to purchase the Green Tea variation of this cleanser after I use up my blueberry one. So far, I am really loving this cleanser and want to keep using it. I’m looking forward to finishing off the bottle.
