Heart My Closet Review

We all know one of my favourite companies is Heart My Closet; they create beautiful custom garments, have great ethics and customer service and of course, their dresses are drop dead stunning. I’ve reviewed them a few times before (check that out here, here and here) so I won’t go into too much detail but todays review, I am testing out two coats and a dress. Only one outfit is Mrs Maisel inspired and the other comes from a vintage image myself and Cynthia, the owner, fell in love with.

This wonderful company specializes in creating custom vintage-inspired dresses and they draw their inspirations from current celebrities, vintage-inspired tv shows, and the pinup style. You generally shop by style and then can customize your dress by choosing which colour you’d prefer and can get the item tailored to your precise measurements. I have quite a collection of their dresses in my wardrobe and I’m forever dreaming about getting more.

Let’s start with this gorgeous cream swing coat. Inspired by the one worn by Mrs Maisel, it’s the perfect match to the Maisel tri-colour dress (as worn in the photos). The coat was lined with a lovely large collar and I thought the large buttons were a great vintage touch. The coat had no pockets but I found the length to be perfect as it’s longer than my dress but not at that awkward length where it makes me look short and dumpy. I particularly liked twirling whilst wearing this coat and find that it goes with a lot of my outfits due to it’s neutral colour tone.

The coat reminded me of the pink Maisel coat I had except this one has fewer buttons. It’s truely a great spring and autumn coat as it’s three quarter sleeves are enough to keep you warm but not make you over heat. On the day I wore it, it was quite humid (hello hair frizz) but I found it to be really comfortable to wear.

The next coat absolutely took my breath away. The colour is absolutely stunning! I love blue and wear a lot of it but this is a new shade for me and I am so glad to now have it and be able to mix it into my wardrobe. The coat is fully lined, has no pockets but has a charming collar and three quarter length sleeves. I love the length of it as it’s just a smidge longer than my dress and I always prefer to hide my dress under my coat where I can; no idea why but I just do.

Boy oh boy is this coat stunning. It’s an open swing coat but I image it would be cute belted into an outfit; I will have to try that one day.

Alrighty now lets take a close up of that dress. It’s a perfect match for the colour of the coat which made my love of matchy-matchy flow overboard. The dress was made out of a lovely and comfortable material, it was lined with no pockets but it had a pleated skirt. I thought the little tie detail at the front was super cute and a lovely vintage touch. I have already worn this dress six times since I received it three weeks ago and can say that it fit like a dream, it’s very comfortable and I received many compliments whilst wearing it. I found accessorising with it to be fun as after I got bored of white and blue accessories, I added pops of red, pink and yellow which all went really well.

I can definitely see myself wearing this dress as it warms up and although I’ll be sad to leave the coat in the wardrobe, I’m excited for more summertime activities. I paired it here with a white belt and a vintage navy hat which I thought was very simple and nice.

Honestly, there’s nothing bad I can say about this company of the outfits I reviewed today. I currently have a few of their dresses on my radar which I will get after a few more pay checks. At this stage, I think I have nearly 10 pieces from Heart My Closet and I just keep falling in love with more and more pieces. I love how customisable everything is and it allows me to fill colour gaps in my wardrobe and create dresses with my favourite colour combinations. They are perfect if you need something for an event or if you want to match a certain theme; I would use them if you are into Disneybounding or if you had a pinup pageant with a specific theme.

I think I started shopping with Heart my Closet around 2017/2018 and I don’t see myself leaving them any time soon. If you’d like to see my gorgeous friend Miss Vintage Orchid try out some other dresses from Heart My Closet, find her on Instagram and give her some love!
