Erstwilder release day’s are always special but if you’ve been following their more recent releases, you would have noticed that some brooches have gotten a little bit small. No, the designs haven’t shrunk in the wash and in fact, it’s a brand new thing that Erstwilder is trying. Mini brooches are a great little (pardon the pun) addition to any brooch lovers collection or a piece for those who find brooches a little bit too big and want something subtle. The first ever mini collection from Erstwilder has been released today and it’s all about cats. All the designs are re-releases of old designs but done in new colour ways, there are five pieces in the collection and it’s a great first mini release, especially if you love cats. As always, I am here to share some of my favourite pieces from the collection.

The best thing about this collection is that Erstwilder has decided to donate a portion of sales to the RSPCA Victoria. Erstwilder are donating $2 from every Mini Cat design sold today to support the RSPCA Vic cat adoption initiatives. This is a great initiative taken by Erstwilder and it’s nice to see a company give back to the community and make a positive change.

Elissa the Indie Cat is a super cute take on the original Elissa cat brooch. I do own one Elissa from an older collection so this mini version makes a great little addition. Elissa is made from a shimmery ripple resin with grey tones with a bright red pair of glasses and bow tie. I love her expression and find her really cute. I think the size of the mini brooches are absolutely perfect. They are not too small so they get lost in an outfit but also big enough to hold lots of detail and personality. I find this brooch super cute and fun and I really like the grey and red tones together.

The second brooch I received was the On the Prowl mini brooch. This is probably one of my favourite brooches from the collection for a number of reasons. This brooch is the one with the most vintage looking aesthetic; it reminds me of the acrylic brooches from the 50’s with it’s shape, colours and pattern. The resin is a lot like a vintage tortoise shell pattern and I personally think the colours used are beautiful. The second reason I love this brooch so much is that it reminds me of my own fur baby, Brian. This brooch for some reason gives me 1920’s vibes and I’m not sure why, but I love the shape, styling and the size.

The first mini collection from Erstwilder is a huge success. I’m sure the designs will sell out very quick so if you do have your eyes on a specific piece, I’d recommend getting it as quickly as possible. As a fellow crazy cat lady, this collection is super cute, well made and beautifully crafted. I love the range of designs available so there really is something for everyone who loves a good cat brooch.
