For some reason, I absolutely love a good door wreath. It’s a capsule craft of seasonal goodness and overdosed with cute. For many seasons throughout the year, I’ll whip up a door wreath and have a constant supply of wreath frames on hand at all times. Whilst doing some home decor shopping, I was recommended through the algorithm a bulk order of 100 mini pumpkins. Before I even had time to finish clutching my pearls, I had ordered it and i knew it would make a wonderful Halloween themed wreath.
Of course this wreath can be modified to suit your style and preferences. Personally I’m tempted to buy another bulk lots of 100 mini pumpkins and paint them pastel rainbow colours to add them to last years pumpkin wreath. If you do try this tutorial, please tag me or send me a photo, I’d love to see it.
-Foam door wreath (mine was 14″)
-Hot glue gun and glue
-Halloween themed ribbon
Start by painting two coats of acrylic paint onto your foam wreath base. I recommend painting your wreath as close to the colour of pumpkins you have. If you are paining your pumpkins another colour, paint your wreath in a matching colour. You can also wrap your frame in ribbon.
Once your paint has fully dried (yes it’s worth the wait or else you’ll get paint everywhere), starting from the middle of the wreath, slowly glue your mini pumpkins down. As pumpkins are round, they dont teselate very well so just do your best to tuck them in as best you can as you add more rows.
Tip: you can get the best fit by gluing down your pumpkins row by row starting from the inside.
I like to leave a small gap at “the bottom” of my wreath. Wrap some ribbon around this gap gluing it down. Cut a piece of ribbon a few inches long, and tie it into a bow. Glue down a small piece of ribbon around the centre of the bow so it looks cute. Glue down the bow inside your ribbon patch.
You’re done! Hang her on your door!
This tutorial is really paint, glue and hang. It cannot be simpler than it already is. This wreath can be made in an afternoon and I recommend drying your wreath in the sun to help it dry faster. I think this mini pumpkin wreath is super cute and perfect for a little bit of festive spirit just in time for Halloween.
