April 2, 2021April 2, 2021Leave a comment

When it came to deciding what vintage inspired craft I would do for Easter, I felt a bit tired and uninspired about a lot of this things I came up with. Crochet and knitting ideas were thrown around as were recipes and sewing projects but I decided that this year, I will finally make my … Continue reading Making a Vintage Easter Bonnet and Corsage

DIY Pinup: Home Made Curlers

May 11, 20201 Comment

Throughout history, women have gotten creative and thrifty in the name of upkeeping beauty standards. Today I am excited to share with you a tutorial from my grandmother with her super simple (and budget-friendly) hair curlers. I remember being a little girl and my mother curling my hair using these curlers; I normally slept in … Continue reading DIY Pinup: Home Made Curlers

How to Sew a Vintage Peg Apron

November 29, 2019November 28, 2019Leave a comment

One of my favourite household chores is doing the laundry, I love the simplicity of it, the smells of the laundry products and getting time to go outside and enjoy the fresh air whilst I peg everything up. What I don't like, however, besides folding laundry, is dealing with plastic pegs. After time in the … Continue reading How to Sew a Vintage Peg Apron

**Please Note: since the release of this review, it has been drawn to my attention that Retro Stage has been engaging in unethical practices. Customers have not been receiving their orders and all attempts at corespondance has fallen on deaf ears. Furthermore, pinups have had their photos used to promote a dress of Retro Stage … Continue reading Retro Stage 1920’s Dress Review – Part Two

The annual Perth Pinup Pool Party is coming and this years theme is Carmen Miranda. Sometimes it's scary how well Google knows you and what you like to buy. At the end of last year I kept getting recommended this Acorn Rattan bag from @olliella and you bet ya bottom I loved it. Google knew I would want a bag designed for children for myself. Ah, well played Google, well played.
This weekend was all about recovering from my recent operation but it gave me time to start planning my next vintage ghibli sewing project.
When dressing in the vintage style, many of us feel the pressure to style ourselves in a way to suit. Red lips and curled hair become iconic for vintage styling but for people like me, styling my hair can be a bit of a challenge.
When I was a kid, I went through a pretty strong Hello Kitty phase. My entire desk was covered in every piece of Hello Kitty stationery I could get my hands on, much of which I still have today. The new collection from @erstwilder with @hellokitty made my nine year old self squeal with joy! Oh and of course @miss.vintage.orchid is also Hello Kitty obsessed!

This little bunny wants to wish you all a wonderful and safe Easter.
When you watch one too many 80s films right before an Easter shoot. Bette Midler would be proud 💚
Be honest, how often do you wash your foam/sponge curlers? I try to wash mine at least once a month as I use multiple times a week. They can start to look a bit gross and sad if you don't keep them clean.
Have you ever procrastinated so hard that years go by and you still haven't done the thing you set out to do? Well, that happened to me; for over two and a half years I have wanted to create a mini-series on my blog (and now YouTube) where I take my favourite Studio Ghibli films and characters and turn them into a vintage version of themselves.
Self care is the best kind of care 💙
