Picnics have always been a wonderful way to spend time with loved ones, or solo, outside surrounded by delicious food. As an avid lover of picnics, there are a few things that can really elevate your picnics vibe and let’s face it, picnics are all about the vibe. Putting together a retro-vibe picnic is easy so today I wanted to share with you some items from various suppliers (non are affiliate or sponsored links and all pictures will be linked) so you can elevate your picnic game.
Nothing screams ‘cute picnic’ like a cute picnic basket. There are a lot of adorable options on the market but my favourite would have to be this one. It also comes in various colours to suit all styles.

In an effort to support more small artists, I love companies such as Spoonflower and Society 6 where artists can upload designs and have them printed on a load of different items, one of which includes picnic blankets. A picnic blanket is the base canvas of your picnic styling so by finding something that suits your aesthetic, it can make all the difference. There are heaps of colourful picnic blankets out there and I wanted to list some of my favourites but with a little research, you can find something to suit all budgets.
I’d highly recommend browsing Society 6 and Spoonflower for unique items to match all styles (be prepared to do a lot of browsing!)

Continuing on with more picnic blankets, I wanted to share one of my favourite brands who specialises in cute and kitschy travel items such as lunch boxes, travel flasks, cooler bags and more. Any items from Somewhere Co. would help you create a beautiful picnic.

These paper plates are absolutely adorable and a stunning way to up your paper plate game especially if you don’t have enough reusable plastic picnic plates already. These paper plates would be stunning for a fancy picnic say in the event of a bachelorette, engagement party or stylish birthday.

These paper cups would match the above paper plates perfectly and give you all the cute vintage vibes.

It’s understandable if you think that paper or disposable isn’t your thing so I found this cute and colourful picnic set which can be reused and stylish time and time again.

If you’d prefer a reusable option instead of paper, there are some really cute plastic goblets which come in either a 4 pack or 6 pack with many different colours per pack. They would be a cute reusable option and a great way to give everyone their own colour so there are no mix ups.

If you’ve got your cups sorted, lets have a look at this jug which is both functional and absolutely adorable.

But if you’d prefer something a little less colourful, this would be a great second option.

I can’t share Somewhere Co. without drawing your attention to their cooler bags and lunch boxes. I own a few and love them so much, they really make taking my food for my daily adventures a whole lot more pleasant.

Carrying your delicious picnic food in adorable containers can really add to the overall look of your retro picnic. I’ve had my eye on these colourful painted tiffins and although I don’t own one, I have lusted over them for ages.

If you’re up for a mini challenge, I found this DIY mini picnic table kit from Bunnings and found it easy to assemble but there are so many options with how to decorate it. The possibilities are endless and I hope to style mine up soon.

Styling your perfect retro picnic should be fun and of course, designed to fit your budget. It’s not feasible to think everyone will go out and buy everything brand new so be prepared to shop sales, hunt through thrift and op shops. As I don’t like clutter or wasteful items in my house, I only replace something once the item I own is falling apart or non repairable. I’ve had my eye on a few of these above items but know I don’t want to replace the ones I already have at home so I don’t expect anyone to do the same. I hope this list gives you an idea what what’s out there to give you cute retro picnic vibes or even to give you just one new item which can give you all the fun vibes without feeling the need to buy everything.
I wish you all a wonderful picnic season!
