Sewing a Vintage Spiderweb Skirt

October 22, 2021October 22, 20211 Comment

I'm trying to get back into sewing after a bit of a sad-spell so I figured Halloween is a great time to really get the creative juices flowing. To get some inspiration I went straight to my old vintage-sewing Pinterest board and stumbled upon this skirt that I completely forgot about. I'm not sure exactly … Continue reading Sewing a Vintage Spiderweb Skirt

DIY Pinup: Vintage Fruit Basket Bag

April 19, 2021April 7, 2021Leave a comment

A popular accessory in the 1950's was the fruit basket bag which was bascially a wicker basket made small enough to resemble a purse or ladies handbag, adorned with velvet fruit. Although wicker basket bags have been around for hundreds of years, they are still popular and return often in popular trends; the latest one being … Continue reading DIY Pinup: Vintage Fruit Basket Bag

Making a Vintage Easter Bonnet and Corsage

April 2, 2021April 2, 2021Leave a comment

When it came to deciding what vintage inspired craft I would do for Easter, I felt a bit tired and uninspired about a lot of this things I came up with. Crochet and knitting ideas were thrown around as were recipes and sewing projects but I decided that this year, I will finally make my … Continue reading Making a Vintage Easter Bonnet and Corsage

DIY Pinup: Home Made Curlers

May 11, 20202 Comments

Throughout history, women have gotten creative and thrifty in the name of upkeeping beauty standards. Today I am excited to share with you a tutorial from my grandmother with her super simple (and budget-friendly) hair curlers. I remember being a little girl and my mother curling my hair using these curlers; I normally slept in … Continue reading DIY Pinup: Home Made Curlers

How to Sew a Vintage Peg Apron

November 29, 2019November 28, 2019Leave a comment

One of my favourite household chores is doing the laundry, I love the simplicity of it, the smells of the laundry products and getting time to go outside and enjoy the fresh air whilst I peg everything up. What I don't like, however, besides folding laundry, is dealing with plastic pegs. After time in the … Continue reading How to Sew a Vintage Peg Apron

When you leave the house for the first time in months and your body rebels and hates you for it.
It's time for part three of our Snoopy inspired dog house build! Today was all about attaching the side panels and roof which was so much fun with the stapel gun. After some putty filler and sanding, we finished the day off by painting on some primer ready for paint day in part 4!
During my five weeks of bed rest there wasn't much I could do as I was exhausted and couldn't look at a screen for long. So I read a lot of books, most were new and some oldies just for fun. Despite being bed bound I went on so many epic adventures and I've definitely rekindled my love of reading. Thank you to all who sent in their current reads and recommendations!
It's time for part two of how I built my Snoopy inspired dog house. As we made the base of the dog house in part one, today we focused on making the detachable roof. We made the top of the roof flat so you could sit on it and added lots of side panels for extra strength.
This weekend I'm attempting to decipher a vintage French sewing pattern. I have no idea how to use it and there are no instructions... what could possibly go wrong?
As today is @snoopygrams birthday, I thought I'd share a project I did last year where my dad and I built a Snoopy inspired dog house for a @sarsparilly shoot.
It's been raining a lot over here and I have to admit I adore this weather. I love watching the rain and I find it ever so calming; no matter show stressed I am, the rain allows me to take a deep breath and destress.
I really miss sewing so I thought I'd share a dress I made back in May which was #butterick6318 using a gorgeous vintage print cotton from @fabricdotcom
I'm still struggling health wise and I think this is my 5th or 6th week on bed rest. I'm exhausted all the time, pretty lonely and feeling flat but I'm starting to plan projects and ideas for the future.
Today was a good day; I felt well enough to do a little sewing and although I didn't quite get around to tidying uo, I certainly got my appetite back! It's the little wins right? What was one of your little wins for the week?
