There are certain people in this world where when they ask for help, I just drop everything and run. Sometimes, that includes taking a flight across the country. One of those amazing people is Sasha and Marija from Sherbet Birdie Photography. It’s been a while since I’ve done a ‘That’s a Wrap’ post and this will be a great one to kick off that thread again. If you haven’t heard of Sherbet Birdie you absolutely need to find and follow them on Instagram for regular posts of sheer amazingness. For this particular edition, we partnered with Sasparilly, an amazing Australian brand which makes cute, kitschy and vintage-inspired clothing, Irregular Choice shoes, and a very special feline named, Pusheen.

 

The collaboration of a lifetime took place in March when I landed in Sydney and spent the day with the team at Sherbet Birdie, Sarsparilly and fellow vintage blogger Kayla from Gracefully Vintage (I may have fangirled as I had always admired her and her writing!). It was a day filled with love, laughter, sharing life stories and personal tales. There was so much patience, understanding and empowerment between us all that it made me really appreciate where I was in my life. I never imagined that dressing in a way that made me so comfortable would bring about so many gorgeous like-minded friends. Marija was an absolute wizard when she did my makeup for the day and made me feel super cute, Sasha worked hard on creating a beautiful set up in the studio and Maria from Sasparilly showed us all her beautiful items and told us about her beautiful little business.

Once we started shooting, my 13-year-old self was internally screaming and crying with joy. When I was much younger, I was obsessed with everything pastel, pink, glittery and Hello Kitty so being a part of a shoot was just overload for me. I think I had way too much fun throughout the day which can be seen by the huge cheesy grin on my face in all the images. It was really refreshing to be allowed to have as much fun as I could on a shoot; that’s not to say that all my other shoots aren’t fun but I normally have to do my serious face instead of pulling faces and smiling a lot.

The shoot was an absolute dream. We all had a lot of fun and shared many laughs. I left the shoot on an absolute high because I was so grateful for all the people and opportunities I had had in my life which lead me to this day but also sad to have to fly home straight away. Thank you to all the wonderful people who made this dream shoot an absolute reality. See you all in the next installment!
