She Loves Blooms Brooch Review

Do you know what’s better than brooching? Brooching with your pinup bestie! Today I am super excited to be sharing a new company on my blog which I was lucky enough to collaborate with and also shoot with the one and only Miss Vintage Orchid. She Loves Blooms was kind enough to send us some a lovely sample of their pieces all of which are designed and created in Singapore by Yvette; the owner of She Loves Blooms.

Yvette is very proud of her mixed race heritage which includes Chinese Peranakan on her maternal side and Australian Indigenous (Bundjalung) on her paternal side. She uses her small business to share joy, her art and raise awareness of certain charities and causes which are close to her heart. Yvette strongly believes fashion jewellery statement pieces can start conversations about the plight of endangered animals. It also helps that a portion of the sale of her brooches goes towards animal conservation and human rights charities who carry out important work to educate and inform the public. How amazing is that?

Besides her own designs, She Loves Blooms is also a stockist for other major brooch brands such as Erstwilder, I Love Crafty, Lipstick and Chrome, Little Pig Jewellery Design, Bekbekmakes and Laliblue. But for the main focus today, I will be sharing with you some of my new favourite brooches from She Loves Blooms.

The My Cantering Bliss brooches is super adorable, whimsical and has a strong esense of imagination and magic to it. I am a huge fan of the variations in the colours available and how a wider range of skin tones is represented. I think the little koala is an adorable addition to the piece and you can definitely see Yvettes heritage shining through. Yvette states that the brooch was made in memory of her Indigenous grandmother and also for all the  indigenous women in the world whom have suffered from the impacts of colonisation.
Proceeds from the sale of these brooch will be donated to Aware Singapore, a leading local gender equality advocacy group.

Next up we have the Fab Fifi and Frenchie brooches in both the blue and pink versions. I’d like to think that Miss Vintage Orchid is the inspiration behind the hot pink hair because it’s simply fabulous and I’m more than in love with both colour ways. As someone who has always wanted a Frenchie, this is the closest I’ll get for a little while. She Loves Bloom is really great at creating portraits which allow wearers to showcase their personalities and interests. As well as this super cute Frenchie, there is a similar brooch featuring bubble tea and a book (I WANT IT SO BAD), and of course a portrait with a kitty and another with a cute little brown puppy.

Our last piece was the Vivienne Witch Upon a Broomstick brooch. I’ve been waiting for someone to do a ridiculously cute and pastel pink Halloween collection so this is the closest I’ve been able to find. Vivienne is a sweet little witch soaring through the sky in a bright pink dress and hat, purse glitter hair and her best kitty friend. I’m a particular fan of Vivienne’s spider web tattoo and her expression.

I am wearing a dress from Heart My Closet and Miss Vintage Orchid is wearing the Maria dress in pink from Sarsparilly and cardigan from Vivien of Holloway.

Each piece is made from laser cut and layered acrylic, hand assembled and hand painted. She Loves Blooms designs are lovingly glued, assembled and painted by hand and there can be finger print marks and very slight variations and blemishes in some pieces. Due to the hand mixed nature of the resins in their designs, it is common and normal to find tiny flecks or bubbles in the resin layers. All in all this just makes each piece as special and unique as their customers. Brooch clasps are made from silver-plated steel. Due to the use of high-quality silver-plating in the brooch clasps, tarnishing and oxidisation can occur, producing black and gold discolouration. As with all silver products, you can simply restore it using a silver cloth.

The brooches were all beautiful, well constructed and very whimsical. I loved being able to collaborate with She Loves Blooms and share a bit more about their story and background. I fully stand by this company, it’s owner and their ethics; it’s not easy being a small business and trying to do so much for society and other communities. I’d highly recommend you checking out She Loves Blooms and perhaps sharing them to help spread their positive message and wonderful products.

Another thank you to Miss Vintage Orchid for shooting and sharing this collaboration with me. We honestly spent more time laughing about silly things and shooting but it was a fun afternoon and a great way to spend a Sunday. Follow Miss Vintage Orchid here.
