We are officially in spring meaning all the flowers are in bloom, I’m becoming addicted to hay fever tablets and I can dress aggressively floral. Spending time amongst the new season flowers is always a highlight of Spring and I try to be outside as much as I can to enjoy the simplicity of natures beauty. This year, I made a point to go and enjoy the cherry blossoms at S & R Orchard and take a few snaps amongst the blossoms and what luck it was to be able to do so with Dani from Daniche Creative Photography.
It seems that once a year, myself and Daniche Creative get together, put on a huge straw hat and go and find as many flowers as we possibly can. This year was no exception. We went to the Orchard on a Monday morning to avoid the weekend madness and that is definitely something to keep in mind if you plan on going yourself. If I could give you a tip, take a large hat as it will help with shadows and blocking out people in the background.
The orchard itself is really well suited for visitors; there’s parking right up to the gate (get in early to get a good spot), food trucks serving drinks and snacks, fresh fruit and honey availabel for purchase, an undercover seating area for resting and toilets. Beside all those amazing extras, the orchard itself is perfect for photo opportunists and families alike. Each row of blossom trees features a ‘photo spot’ such as a piano, a tea party scene, a phone booth and a vintage suitcase stack. The orchard really understands social media and makes the experience unique.

I got super excited when it came to styling for the shoot itself; originally I was going to go for dark bold colours but eventually changed my mind and went for colour and a summery feel. Despite only planning two outfits, I brought a spare which went perfectly with the blossoms. I wore three dresses from The Pretty Dress Company, some large straw hats, earrings from Poporcelain (full review coming soon) and shoes from Charlie Stone.
My favourite look was definitely the first outfit of the day; I wore the Hourglass Vintage Black and Pink Rose Swing dress from The Pretty Dress Company with a large pink straw hat, the Dark Romance Rose Oval Porcelain Cameo earrings from Poporcelaine and Charlie Stone cream shoes. I wasn’t sure about shooting in a darker toned outfit but was glad I stuck to my guns and wore this outfit because it came out perfect. My favourite photos are definitely from the flower phone booth which was dreamy in itself.

Outfit 2: My second outfit was the Priscilla Lemon Stripe Midi dress from The Pretty Dress company and a large straw hat. I really love this dress as blue is my favourite colour and I’m a bit of a sucker for anything lemon print (no idea why, I just am). I felt particularly pretty in this outfit and thought the colours would really stand out amongst the blossoms. I still wore the Dark Romance Rose Oval Porcelain Cameo earrings from Poporcelaine because they are my new favourite earrings.

Outfit 3; My third and final outfit was the Priscilla Vintage Rose Midi dress from The Pretty Dress company and a large straw hat and of course the Dark Romance Rose Oval Porcelain Cameo earrings from Poporcelaine. Yeah, if I can get away with wearing a big pink dress, I will always wear a big pink dress.

I am excited to share these images over the spring season. They were a dream to shoot and so much fun to plan. I was a bit disappointed in my hair as due to the humidity, the curls flattened within minutes of starting the shoot and I just couldn’t do much with them as they just frizzed and clumped. But apart from that, I think everything else was wonderful.
Check out Daniche Creative for more dreamy photography. Seriously she is super amazing with her photography skills and can shoot in a wide range of styles. She’s also just a real sweetheart.
