Kbeauty – Make P:rem UV Defense me sun essence review

Earlier this year, I made a post about my favourite sunscreens; as summer is really kicking into gear, I am making sure I have sunscreen around me at all times which means I am keen to test out a few new ones. My favourite place to shop for all things Kbeauty, YesStyle, was kind enough to send me a new sunscreen to test out which is very exciting as nothing brings me as much joy as a new sunscreen. Today I will be reviewing the Make P:rem UV defense me sun essence. As always, I do have an affiliate code so for an extra discount, please use MONMON8 at checkout!

I use sunscreen daily (or at least try to and definitely if I plan to leave the house). I can be a bit fussy when it comes to sunscreen; I want it to be moisturising, at least 50 SPF+, non-greasy and not to leave a white cast. As someone with adult acne and cystic acne, I also want to make sure it doesn’t clog my pores or break me out. I’ve tried and tested a lot of sunscreens over the years some which I’ve loved and some which I’ve given to friends after it’s let me down too many times. It seems that sunscreens have become more popular on social media and I’ve seen lots of reels of people sharing their favourite brands and I’m excited to see some of my favourites always being recommended. With all my requirements in mind, I do test out my products for 2 – 3 months before I give a review just incase I have a skin reaction or something else has triggered my skin to freak out and I’m not sure it’s the new product I’m trying.

Thoughts
At the time of writing, we are currently hitting over 40C degrees (104 F) on the daily so I am certainly keeping my skin out of the sun and protected as much as possible. I’ve used this sunscreen on a daily basis for about a month now and put it on in the morning after my skincare and before my makeup, then I reapply as needed throughout the day. The sunscreen comes in a 50ml tube with a simple and sleek design; it fits perfectly in my bag making reapplying on the go simple. The sun essence is also vegan and cruelty free which is exactly what I want in a beauty product.

The sun essence is a lightweight formula, not a thick cream but not overly watery. It’s white in colour but leaves no white cast when applied; it also blends in and sinks into the skin quickly and doesn’t stay sticky or tacky on the skin. The sun essence has a slight chemical smell with a bit of a powdery finish. Once it settles onto the skin, it leaves a light layer of protection and moisturiser and a soft powdery scent. When applied to the face; a little goes a long way and you don’t need a lot to cover your entire face. For me, with my ridiculously dry skin, the sun essence takes about 15 minutes to fully absorb into my skin and no longer be felt. Once it’s sunken in the skin, my makeup applies smoothly, doesn’t separate or oxidise which is always a plus.

I’m a big fan of how moisturising the formula is and I’m finding that my skin feels dewy, glowy and supple all day when I wear it. The formula does leave a soft dewyness on the skin but you don’t look sweaty or oily when wearing it. The formula doesn’t sting my eyes or face whilst wearing it. Now, after wearing it for about a month, with some very hot days, I haven’t burnt my skin, gone red or had any skin irritation brought about by the sun. This is obviously the point of a sun cream and so far so good. I did also wear the sun essence whilst swimming and found that it didn’t wear off or leave me burning in the sun. I have worn the sunscreen on my body as well and found that I didn’t feel sticky or tacky and also didn’t burn so win win!

One feature I really like about this sunscreen in the back of the tube. At the very bottom of all the information there is a small space for you to write down the day you opened the tube so you can be made aware when you need to replace it. This is such a great feature as expired sunscreen isn’t as effective and it’s not always easy to remember when things were opened. I love the initiative and the user-friendliness that this feature provides.

I would highly recommend this sun screen and will certainly replace it with a new tube once my current one runs out. I would certainly add this cream to my current favourites list as it’s light weight, non greasy, moisturising and protects me from the sun. I will continue to wear it as the summer rolls on and would highly recommend you pick yourself up a tube or two for yourself.
