Anyone who follows me on Instagram and Facebook knows that most of my outfits will be complemented with a Lola Von Rose handbag (I have every colour except black…and I really want a black one!). Lola Von Rose is a fabulous little company who puts their heart and soul into creating unique vintage-inspired bags and most recently, lipsticks. I was recently contacted and asked if I wanted to test out some of their lipsticks and of course, I said yes! They were great to deal with and I waited by my front door anxiously for my new treasures to arrive.
Just over a week later, they were here! I received 4 amazing shades of red; Red Roses, Vintage, Retro Red and Old Hollywood. They were a great mix of deep red and pink tones which would suit any vintage or pinup girl. The lipsticks are packaged in a light-weight gold tube with a small heart window displaying the colour. The wand has a doe-foot applicator and the formula has a light floral scent. The lipstick formula is very light and more on the watery side, it glides on very easily and two coats gave me full coverage with no streaking. All the lipsticks had a matte finish, were highly pigmented and vegan/ cruelty-free.
I first tried Retro Red and loved how it stood out against my pale skin. I put the lipstick on in the late morning and spent the whole day with it. It took around 3 minutes to dry completely but I think I may have put on quite a thick coat. The lipstick passed the straw test, a light kiss test but it wasn’t overly smudge-proof when I rubbed my fingers on my lips. I didn’t need to reapply all day and it didn’t flake off or smear. By the late evening, I felt the lipstick start to go tacky on the inside of my lips and it didn’t survive dinner very well; by the time I finished my bowl of noodles, most of it was gone. Luckily, it was quick and easy to reapply. Over the next few days, I tested the other colours and found that they all had good staying power, they were really pigmented and comfortable to wear. I think I am officially hooked!
The liquid lipsticks by Lola Von Rose are all inspired by true vintage colours and are a great addition to any pinup girl’s make-up collection. I think I am more likely to stick with this brand over my Kat Von D, or Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks as they just feel more luxurious, the company has great customer service and ethics, and the aesthetics are more suited to my lifestyle.

My favourite shade has to be Retro Red; it is perfect for my everyday wear and it’s become a staple product in my makeup collection. I can definitely see myself buying a replacement when it runs out.
I would definitely recommend trying the Lola Von Rose Liquid Lipsticks. They are a great company to deal with, super friendly and they too are passionate about the vintage and retro lifestyle. Their lipsticks come in a really large range of bold colours which are great for everyday wear and even costume/makeup artistry. I’m already deciding what my next few colours would be.
