We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, A YELLOW SUBMARINE!
There’s something special that happens when Sarsparilly collaborates with licensed companies; we’ve already been spoilt by a Peanuts, Care Bears and Pusheen and now, Sarsparilly has done it again. It has to be something really exciting for me to squeal with sheer joy when I first learn of the collaboration and this one, THIS ONE, made me absolutely giddy with joy and I called my Dad to share the excitement. The most recent collection and collaboration Sarsparilly has released is with The Beatles and Yellow Submarine. I have been listening to the Beatles ever since I can remember and even now as an adult, I have Beatles records, artwork and parafinalia all over my house. To be apart of such an amazing collaboration is beyond exciting.

The Sarsparilly X Beatles Yellow Submarine collection will be released in two parts; part one was released this weekend and it includes 5 garments all with bright and bold Beatles inspired artwork. If all goes well, part two of the collection will be released in a months time and I’ll definitely be releasing a review when it does. This collection, so far, includes three dresses, a skirt and a jumpsuit all designed with a vintage vibe and made sustainably. I have shopped with Sarsparilly for year and their quality, ethics and customer service have always been amazing. This collection is definitely in my top favourites, (will anything really beat Peanuts?) and I’m very excited to share it with you.
The first item we will be looking at is the O-BLUE-terate them! dress. You don’ t have to hate music to be a Blue Meanies fan! But watch out for the Dreadful Flying Glove with its o-blue-terating rays, pouncing on unsuspecting Pepperland citizens from the sky. The O-BLUE-terate them! Dress includes a repeating pattern including the Chief Blue Meanie, Max, and the terrifying Glove. Never fear, though: All You Need Is LOVE to keep this giant oven mitt away!
This dress is probably my favourite piece in the whole collection; I love a shirt style dress and this one is adorned with gorgeous, rich and deep blue toned illustrations of the Blue Meanies. The dress is made up of 98% cotton sateen and 2% elastane so it’s thick, durable has some stretch but is very comfortable allowing your body to breathe and relax. Trust me, it was super humid when I wore this dress the first time and I felt cool as a cucumber. The dress bodice has functioning buttons and an invisible side zipper; the collar isn’t restricting or too tight and I love the slight v-neck illusion it creates. The skirt is knee length with hidden pockets and very full making it perfect for twirling. I wore two petticoats underneath this skirt and it was deliciously full but you can always tone it down to just one. The dress comes with a working fabric belt with metal eyelets and a covered buckle in a matching blue shade.

This dress was a lot of fun to wear and I can see myself wearing it lots especially with the cooler weather on the way. With all the blue an purple tones in the dress, I can pair it with lots of cardigans and although the pattern is busy, it’s oddly quite subtle and doesn’t scream Blue Meanies or The Beatles when worn. It’s only when you look close that you realise what the art work is. I absolutely love this dress as it’s cute, functional (hello snack holes) and it’s very comfortable. The O-BLUE-terate them! dress retails for $299.
Our next item is the Pepperland Dress. Beyond the Sea of Holes can be found the undersea paradise of Pepperland, where all you need is LOVE, music, and the right aesthetic. Featuring a repeating of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band riding a smiling friendly gator, the Pepperland Dress will get you to the gig on time. But look out beyond the mountain range, the Blue Meanies are coming. This dress is whimsical, wonderful and adorable. Something a little softer for all the pastel lovers out there, this dress truely is one of a kind.
Made up of 98% cotton sateen and 2% elastane, this dress is party in the front and the back. With a base pattern made up of soft blue fabric with large white spots, the art work along the knee length skirt really stands out. The bodice has a square neckline with darts in just the right spots making it comfortable and flattering. The back bodice has a v-neck line and a super cute pink bow as an added detail and an invisible zipper. The skirt is full and lush featuring non other than Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club band along the bottom edge, oh and of course pockets for snacks. The dress comes with a matching pink belt with a fabric covered buckle.

The pastel tones in this dress are super stunning and I love the artwork featured along the skirt. There’s always something exciting about a good boarder print and this one is no exception. This dress was very comfortable to wear and I found the fabric felt really thick and luxurious without feeling heavy or too much. I love the cute pink bow detailing on the back as it really adds an extra element of fun into the design. This is my new ‘chuck on and go’ dress as the styling is effortless, it’s a real statement so it always looks great and I’ve had lots of people ask about it. The Pepperland Dress retails for $299.
If the dress was a bit too much for you, then the next item will be right up your alley; this is the Sea of Holes Skirt. From beyond the Sea of Holes, the denizens of Pepperland have called upon The Beatles to help free them from the tyranny of the music-hating Blue Meanies! The Lord Mayor, “Old” (though sometimes Young) Fred, and Jeremy Hillary Boob (Ph.D.) come together (right now) with The Beatles to save Pepperland with the power of music and LOVE! As the sister companion to the Pepperland Dress, the Sea of Holes skirt is the same in vibe, style and colour.
Made up of 98% cotton sateen and 2% elastane, this skirt is full, lush and a lot of fun. The waistband is really comfortable and isn’t thin enough to cut into your waist but also isn’t too thick so it forms an annoying crease or folds over. The skirt is knee length and has hidden pockets for all your snacks. I absolutely love all the artwork along the bottom of the skirt as it features many inhabitants of Pepperland making it a joyous occasion ever time your spin. I’m so glad to see so many characters on this skirt but I sure have a soft spot for the fab four of course.

This skirt has so many colours in it that you can really wear it with any colour. Here I am wearing it with the Sarsparilly heart jumper in pink but I’ve also worn it with the white heart jumper that looks equally as cute. I’d definitely recommend pulling out your favourite colours when wearing this skirt as it’s really an anything goes kind of garment. The Sea of Holes skirt retails for $199.
Our fourth item is one that holds a special place in my heart, it is the Lonely Hearts Club Band dress. Guaranteed to a raise a smile, this dress will never go out of style, so may I introduce you the act you’ve known for all these years? Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band! The iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hands Club Band logo appears on a signature Sarsparilly pink background and is the ultimate dress for a Beatles fan. No longer is your devotion limited to a band tee or just telling people you love the group! Now everyone will know when you step out in our gorgeous, full pleated Lonely Hearts Club Band Dress. She is bright, bold, unapologetic and so much fun.
Made up from 98% cotton sateen and 2% elastane, this dress is a signature vintage style with it’s thin straps, darted bodice and full skirt. It’s one of those retro dress styles thats popular, flattering and iconic for a reason. There are so many colours in this dress you can really wear it with lots of cardigan options and petticoat colours. The straps on the bodice are adjustable so you can alter it to fit you which is something I really appreicate in spaghetti strap dresses. The back bodice has an invisible zipper whilst the skirt is knee lenght, very full and has hidden pockets. The dress also comes with a matching fabric belt featuring the dress fabric and a covered buckle.

This dress was so much fun to wear that I really didn’t want to take it off. I loved the colours, especially the pink, and will definitely be wearing it a lot in the future. The Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band logo is so iconic and I love how it’s been used as normally you see it as a centre focus point. I love how it looks in a repeating pattern especially with the pink. This dress is certainly one for Beatles fans and I know I’ll love it for a very long time yet. Not to mention, it’s one of my favourite Beatles albums. The Lonely Hearts Club Band dress retails for $299.
The last item in this collection is a piece that I will have a lot of fun styling in the future, it’s the Beneath The Waves Jumpsuit. Live a life of ease among a whole fleet of Yellow Submarines with this gorgeous Beneath the Waves Jumpsuit. Travel to the sea of green to find the magical mystery land of submarines and fit right in with an adorable repeating Yellow Submarine pattern on a vibrant sea blue background. Jumpsuit’s are one of those items where I’m always worried when I order them as a lot can go wrong; there’s nothing worse than ones that are too short in the crotch and you just get a massive camel toe. Oh and not to mention they just look award and odd. This one might be a winner.
Made up from 100% cotton sateen, the bodice has a square neckline and darts for a flattering fit. The back of the jumpsuit has a centre invisible zip making getting this item on and off pretty easy. The legs of the jumpsuit are not super tight but also not overly baggy making them fit well around the butt and crotch regions. My favourite feature of this garment are the cute little leg buttons. At the bottom of each leg, there is a small split adorned with red velvet buttons for extra cuteness and I’m here for it. The jumpsuit also has pockets which are the perfect size for snacks or your phone. To make the jumpsuit even more flattering, it comes with a matching red belt with a covered buckle that I think really ties the whole look together.

I absolutely love the print on this jumpsuit. The yellow submarine is so iconic and one of those symols that brings everyone together whether they sing “yellow submarine” or “tub of margarine”. I’m so glad the designers thought about the print and print placement when it came to this jumpsuit as it would be super awkward to have submarines right on your boobs or Dolly forbid entering or exiting your crotch. No, these designers were kind and considerate when it came to this jumpsuit and I’m super thankful for them. A little part of me wants to sew in red buttons to the bottom of the straps because this jumpsuit just gives me overall vibes which makes me super happy. I mean, can’t you just imagine this as a dungaree kind of deal? Cute right? The Beneath the Waves Jumpsuit retails for $225.
This collection is bright, bold and lots of fun. There are so many characters featured that any Beatles fan will fall in love instantly. I think the designers really paid homage to The Beatles and Yellow Submarine creating a well thought out and fun collection. All these outfits were styled using jewellery from Sarsparilly including their bangles, earrings and necklaces. Since the last time you may have shopped, Sarsparilly has had a sizing change so it’s definitely worth checking out their sizing chart. All the garments I am wearing are a size small but I found te skirt about an inch or so too lose in the waistband which is an easy fix especially when belted. I have always found the Sarsparilly sizing very forgiving with plenty of extra room so you’ll never really be squashed in or feel restricted in your movements. This collection has amazing quality and all the finishings and details are all top notch.
Shooting for this collection was a lot of fun despite the time crunch and humidity on the day. I worked with local photography wizard, Alex from Hot Pixel who did an incredible job not only taking the photos but the adding all the artwork and elements after we wrapped up. It was a lot of laughs creating these ideas and posing knowing I’ll end up surfing a giant blue hand of just hanging out with the fab four. As a though Beatles fan personally, I know this is the closest I’ll ever get to working or meeting them so I feel like this collaboration was a dream.
I am very excited for part two of this collection to be released and I will of course review it for you all. It’s so fun seeing a collaboration like this especially from a small female run Aussie owned company. I am so grateful to Sarsparilly for allowing me to be a part of this collection and for creating some very exciting items of clothing. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us next. You can find them here.
