There’s something very special about owning a princess dress; it doesn’t have to be a gown or something overly fancy, but just a dress that as soon as you put it on, you feel like absolute royalty. That’s exactly how I felt about the Tilly Off the Shoulder Bow Prom Dress in light pink from The Pretty Dress Company. To say this dress was a dream is an understatement and I wish I had one in every colour. I am really excited to review this dress and give you my opinion.
An exquisite design created in a stretch crepe fabric. A beautifully draped neckline frames the décolletage area and is highlighted by two shoulder bows. The full skirt features pleats and pockets and extra definition is given with a net underskirt. The dress also has a traditional boned bodice lined with a stretch control lining and a concealed back zip. The Tilly Prom Dress is £185 and comes in sizes 8 – 18.
I wore this dress to the launch part for Pinup Society Magazine hosted at Defectors Bar in Mount Lawley. The dress had a decent weight to it and was a pleasure to wear. The waistline sat perfectly on my body and the skirt was beautiful, pleated and full. I originally paired it with a petticoat but felt that the skirt was full enough on it’s own for a daytime event. I received a size 12 at my own request but think I could have sized down. I generally hover around a size 10 in The Pretty Dress brand and it depends on my body but since I have been losing a bit of weight from illness, I could have definitely sized down so I wore it with a belt to bring it in a little.
I loved how romantic this dress felt and could definitely imagine this becoming a date night dress or a Valentines event dress. The pockets were extremely handy in carrying my phone around and keeping my hands free. I particularly liked the neckline and found it alluring, glamorous and feminine. I paired the top of the bodice with a vintage brooch to add a bit more sparkle. I can imagine this dress coming out in a gold lame fabric for the retro red carpet feel.
If you have been wanting to get your hands on a dress from The Pretty Dress Company, I would highly recommend them. I own several of their dresses and have been never been disappointed with their quality, craftsmanship, design or customer service. The Tilly Prom dress is the perfect addition to my wardrobe and I’m really wanting to get another one in a different colour; perhaps the wiggle version.
