They say good things come to those who wait, well, despite the original Markets being cancelled due to a snap lockdown, here we are this long weekend enjoying all the delights the Polka Dot Vintage Markets have to offer. For those who are unaware, the Polka Dot Vintage Market is a 3 in 1 market hosting sellers of vintage, retro, handmade, antiques and collectibles held at the Claremont Showgrounds in Perth three times a year (to check out previous adventures, click here). I was very kindly invited to attend this weekends market to see what goodies I could find so myself and the boy human set on in search of pretty things. We did have a mission to find some earrings to match a particular dress and unfortunately we were on a bit of a time crunch so I didn’t get to go through each stall as thoroughly as I wanted but no matter, we still came home with some new delightful treasures.
The first thing I did once entering the Showgrounds was make a bee-line to the vintage hat seller but I didn’t find anything that particularly caught my eye. Don’t get me wrong there were plenty of beautiful hats I could have come home with but with already a large collection at home, I am becoming more and more selective with colours and styles. Besides, as I said above, I was on a mission to find some earrings.
As always, the markets had a huge selection of delightful treasures to shift through and oh boy were there some pretty things. With a quest for earrings, I suddenly noticed just how many vintage rings there were for available and how it’s been a particular jewellery item I normally miss. I’ve got loads of earrings and necklaces but maybe I should start looking into vintage rings. My quest was to find some gold earrings to match a necklace I had at home so despite seeing many many pairs of stunning earrings, there wasn’t much to match what I wanted. Don’t worry, I fell into temptation and still bought some things along the way.
The list of treasures we found are as follows:
-a 1940’s necklace (my favourite find of the day)
-a Magazine brooch from The Vintage Side
-some small gold infinity earrings
-some vintage reproduction sunglasses
My haul may be small but you bet your bottomly-pots-all-covered-in-spots that I love every single piece! I am so looking forward to the next vintage market and I will definitely go hunting for something wonderful, maybe a new vintage ring! Of course, another huge highlight of the day was seeing a few pinup friends some of which I haven’t seen since last year which is always a real treat. There’s nothing better than caring friendships where you can pick up from where you left off no matter what’s happening in your life. I hope to see them all again soon.
